Halloween 3

Wiki Article

The following is the tag-line that will be used for the horror flick: "Witchcraft enters the computer age, and a different terror begins."

Halloween 3 was not well received by fans of Halloween and Halloween 2. The point for this is, of course, because unlike his predecessors, Myers was not visible.

Executive producers Carpenter and Hill hoped to kick out a type of anthology with Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, with a new Halloween movie released each year around Halloween, each presenting a different narrative. It was a fantastic concept, and I wish they'd had the opportunity to develop it further. It was not to be, though.

Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) gets lured into a weird mystery few days before Halloween when he discovers an elderly patient in his care being murdered while holding a Halloween mask.

Dr. Challis is directed to the Santa Mira offices of the Silver Shamrock, creators of the trendiest Halloween mask on the globe, by the dead guy's daughter, Ellie. Silver Shamrock Company has sold millions of masks throughout the nation thanks to an aggressive marketing strategy (including a memorable jingle).

(Silver Shamrock was housed in a former milk plant.)

They are also telling kids to watch a special show on Halloween night, which would kill thousands or even millions of people if it worked. But when Dr. Challis and Ellie look into the situation more, they find out that Conal Cochran, the CEO of Silver Shamrock (Dan O'Herlihy), is planning something.

Despite the fact that it has nothing to do with Michael Myers, Loomis, Laurie Strode, or Haddonfield, Illinois, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is nonetheless a fun film to see. Aside from a few sequences in which the first Halloween plays on TV, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch has no ties to the other two films.

There is a connection to Stonehenge that doesn't make much sense, but there are some interesting scenes in the film. In one scene, Cochran tries out his sneaky plan on the family of Buddy Kupfer, a salesman who gets a special tour of the factory because he sold so many masks.

After a Halloween costume party, Little Buddy is kept in a small room and placed in a show scheduled for Halloween. He then puts on his mask and watches the shows. Needless to say, this site things get a bit out of hand, and the carnage is memorable. Also memorable is Conal Cochran discussing the true origin of Halloween.

Having said that, I'm a fan of the Halloween movies, particularly the movies that followed Halloween III, starring Michael Myers. I can't help but wonder what story may have been told, had Carpenter been allowed to continue their original plan for the series.

That Halloween III: Season of the Witch didn't go well isn't the fault of anyone, of course. What I feel is at blame is whomever tacked on a third star to this picture.

Even though Halloween 3 was a disappointment, I still find it hard to believe that John Carpenter and Debra Hill's idea was a extreme miscalulation because of my enjoyment of the film.

Tom Lee Wallace directed this film.

Tom Atkins, Stacy Nelkin, Dan O'Herlihy star.
